Privacy Policy

Start Here is operated by Casey Li ("I", "me"). This policy explains what personal information I collect when you visit or buy from Start Here or any other site I run at www.caseyli.com, and what I do with it.

What I collect

When you buy: your name, email address, what you bought, what you paid and when. Stripe passes these to me after checkout.
When you download: how many times your download link has been used, and when.
When you visit: like most websites, my server records technical details such as your IP address, browser and the pages you request. On most pages I also use LogRocket, which records how visitors use the page (such as clicks, scrolling and pages viewed) so I can fix problems and improve the site. It isn't used on the thank-you or download pages.
When you email me: your email address and whatever you write.

I never see or store your card or other payment details. You enter those on Stripe's checkout, not on my site.

How I use it

To deliver your purchase and send your download link.
To answer your questions and help with problems.
To keep the records I need for accounting, tax and legal reasons.
To prevent fraud and abuse, and keep the site working and secure.
To understand how the site is used, and improve it.

I don't sell your personal information. I don't send you marketing emails unless you've asked for them.

Who I share it with

Only the services that help me run the business, and only what each one needs:

Stripe, through its Link service, processes your payment, handles sales tax and sends your receipt. Stripe's own privacy policy covers what it collects at checkout.
Postmark sends your download email.
LogRocket records site visits, as described above.
DigitalOcean hosts the website and its data.

These services may store information outside your country, including in the United States. I may also share information when the law requires it, to protect my rights or someone's safety, or as part of selling or transferring the business.

Cookies

I don't use advertising cookies. LogRocket uses cookies or similar browser storage to link the pages of one visit together, and Stripe uses cookies on its checkout for payments and fraud prevention. You can block cookies in your browser. The site will still work, but checkout may not.

How long I keep it

I keep purchase records for as long as I need them for accounting, tax and legal reasons, which is usually several years. Server logs and session recordings are kept for a shorter time.

Your choices

You can ask to see, correct or delete the personal information I hold about you by emailing contact@caseyli.com. I'll do what I can, but I may need to keep some records, such as purchase records, where the law requires it.

Security

I take reasonable steps to protect your information, but no website or service is perfectly secure, and I can't guarantee it.

Children

My sites and products are not meant for children, and I don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.

Changes

I may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
